Ciao Amici Miei

Hello everyone! I was very busy the past few weeks, but it is now spring break and I am in Italy visiting my dad! I left Friday from O'hare and landed in Naples Saturday night. On Sunday, we went to a local spa. The spa is build into the side of an active volcano which heats all of the pools. The pools are natural mineral water. We went and had lunch, went back to the spa for a little bit, then went home. We watched the sun set and my dad made steaks for dinner. After our dinner, my dad's landlords invited us down for "cake." Which meant, we will have cake after we eat dinner. The food was amazing and they are such nice people.

Today, Monday, we got on the train and went to Rome. In Italy, Roma is pronounced and spelt "Roma." We ate McDonald's for breakfast at the train station, then worked our way to the Vatican. The first time I came to Italy, three years ago, we went to the Vatican. The first time I came to Italy, three years ago, we went to the Vatican but I wanted to go back as a follower of Jesus this time.

The dome in the back left corner is St. Peter's Basilica.

We tried chestnut roasted on an open fire, and we don't need to try them again.

The coolest thing that happened today was when we were walking through the rooms that Raphael did frescoes in and I turned around and saw The School of Athens. I had no idea that this fresco was here. The first time we came, we missed all of the rooms that Raphael created. I am in love with this fresco and the deep philosophy in every scene. I am beyond grateful that I got the chance to see amazing creation with my own eyes. The thing about these frescoes is that you just stand in awh and you do not want to stop looking at them.

Pictures are not forbidden in the Sistine Chapel. I am amazed by every detail in that room and what it stands for. While we were they, I talked to the priest about my faith and where I am at, and he gave me a blessing.

We smashed ourselves into the subway and went to see the Fountain of Trevi. When at the Fountain of Trevi, you throw a coin over the opposite shoulder you are throwing with, and this means you will be back to Rome.

Looks like I'll be back Roma!

Today was amazing. We head out for Venice tomorrow!

Happy Valentine's Day

Here is some brief history about Valentine's day.
Valentine's day was originally established to celebrate Catholic Saint Valentine. February 14th is the day of his death. Saint Valentine was persecuted for his faith, which makes him a martyr. The holiday was meant to acknowledge those who have been martyred. People started giving cards that would say "your Valentine" representing that they would die for that person. The romantic part of Valentines day that our culture celebrates now did not exist until the 14th century. Geoffrey Chaucer is known for his poetry and English literature during the Mid-evil times. He started writing romantic poems to women. The card companies took over the whole day in the 18th century.

Personally am not into the whole idea of Valentine's day. I think there is too many expectations and people just get hurt. You should show the person you are with that you love them everyday.

Here is my outfit for today! I absolutely love this pink tank top, my mom got it for me for my birthday. This color is so in right now.
Outfit Details:
Maroon cardigan - Gap Factory
Tank Top - Goody's
Jeans - American Eagle
Shoes - Charlotte Russe

Stop and Look Around

This past week was Babe Week at Bethel College. Babe Week's purpose is to remove distractions in your life so you can focus on improving yourself. A lot of girls gave up social media or Netflix. I had said that I was not going to give up my social media because of my blog, however I was extremely busy with homework and a lot of other things that I really had no time to write posts. This week has given me the chance to pause and look at my life.

My birthday was on Wednesday. I woke up to Taylor Parker's beautiful face beginning me a Rise and Roll doughnut and pineapple for breakfast. Logan, Taylor Parker, Brooke, and I went to Soho's for dinner. Soho is a Japanese sushi and hibachi grill. The food was amazing and the whole experience was great besides the fact that Taylor Parker is severely allergic to eggs and she almost died about twelve times, but its all good now. After dinner we went to Blaze Pizza so Taylor Parker could eat, then we went to the South Bend Chocolate Factory Cafe. Logan got me some truffles and they were delicious. It was a great day and I am blessed to have such great friends.

I think of my birthday as my personal new year. Every year I think about where I am in life and what I need to improve. I decided that I am going to focus on living in the situations that are currently happening. I get easily caught up in the next step of my life and I do not take time to enjoy where I am or who is around me. I want to stop worrying about the future so I can love and enjoy the people I am around now. I am blessed to know the amazing people I do and I need to recognize how thankful I should be for these people and situations.

Lilly Pulitzer Skirts for Sale

I wanted to buy some Lilly Pulitzer skirts for the spring, so I read all sorts of articles and researched what size I should wear. Everything I read said I should wear a 0. I bought these two skirts on Poshmark and when I tried them on they were too big, so I am trying to resell them. I might be getting the second one altered. If you are interested or know anyone who might be, contact me or send them my link. Thank you!
